Everyone has a spiritual support team. This team can be comprised of angels, spirit guides, soul family, deceased loved ones, our own soul, and even the energy/thoughts from God. We are, at our core, all One.
Many have developed spiritual gifts with which to connect to these support teams. Some receive visions, some channel energy for aiding in healing, have a strong sense of intuition, etc... These are the gifts Apostle Paul spoke of. More will access these gifts as time unfolds. It is intended for the evolution of mankind.
My particular gift is clairaudient channeling. That means that I can telepathically connect with these celestial realms to unlock higher wisdom. After many years (35+) I have been gifted with the ability to allow them to use my vocal chords to speak directly with an audience. It has been a blessed occurrence, and a wild ride, to be sure.
